KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Following directives from His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef saud Al-Sabah, and as part of ongoing efforts to combat violations related to residency permits and visas, the General Department of Criminal Investigation, through its Residency Affairs Investigation Department, has apprehended a domestic worker recruitment office operating illegally in the Rumaithiya residential area. The office was found to be involved in human trafficking and facilitating the acquisition of visas in exchange for money. Investigations revealed that the office recruited domestic workers through a network of Kuwaiti citizens acting as employers. Upon the workers' arrival in Kuwait, the office arranged their transfer to other individuals in exchange for amounts ranging from 1,200 to 1,300 Kuwaiti dinars per Asian worker, significantly exceeding the official fees set by the authorities. In addition, the citizens involved in obtaining the visas received sums ranging between 50 and 100 Kuwaiti dinars per Asian worker for facilitating the recruitment process. All individuals implicated in the scheme have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal action, and the Ministry emphasized that stringent measures will be taken against those found guilty. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its zero- tolerance stance on human trafficking and exploitation of expat workers, stressing that such crimes undermine human values, threaten societal security, and damage the international reputation of the State of Kuwait. Authorities highlighted that deterrent legal measures will be enforced against anyone proven to be involved in exploiting or illegally transferring workers.
