good old fashioned word of mouth has surprisingly been my most effective platform, like people commision me and then show their friends and then their friends want one too so seek me out rather than me having to advertise. this works best if you target your local community rather than global.

this is kinda a big question but do you have any advice for if your art business is operating at a loss? I closed my art business a few years ago bc of this and I focused on PM instead. Now I'm looking to potentially reopen since I was laid off and *hopefully* I will operate at a profit but I'm scared if I operate for more than 3 years at a loss, that I'll get in trouble. IDK if you actually get in trouble or just get audited. I'm just out here struggling. 😭

I have seriously been thinking about giving up my website and going to eBay or Etsy for the very reason you mentioned, they already have the traffic. Then I sometimes hear having your own website is better. I think I’ve made up my mind.
