@mtlgazette: The Coalition Avenir Québec government has presented sweeping and far-reaching new secularism legislation that ventures into areas it has never touched in the past. Six years after adopting Bill 21 barring people in position of authority from wearing religious symbols, the minister responsible for laicity, Jean-François Roberge, rose in the National Assembly on Thursday to present Bill 9, “An Act respecting the reinforcement of laicity in Quebec.” (Via Assemblée nationale du Québec) #quebec #montreal #secularism #laicite
So, no more Christmas or Easter or Halloween or St Jean de Baptiste anymore right?

Canadians go to church to pray, muslims will have To go to their mosques to pray. Our country should not have to change.

You’re talking about ADULTS who attend higher university. They are not even praying in public, it’s in a private god damn room. What problem can you possibly have with adults quietly and privately praying. And FYI I’m a Quebecer and I have NO problem with ppl praying in private prayer rooms, so who are all these Quebecers you asked ??

Literally making problems up and solving non-issues to distract from the real issues they don't want to fix.

so disappointing. why can't students at cepc and universities use a prayer room? it literally doesn't affect me at all or anyone else if they have a dedicated space to pray.

why? who is it bothering?Muslims pray 5 times a day ...we look for clean quiet spots to pray..having a prayer room makes so much sense ...because we will still PRAY regardless ...car park..empty classroom... anywhere. so a place made for prayers would be better and it won't be in anyone's way. let those who choose to pray ..PRAY!

Funny thing is, as Muslims, there’s no restriction to where we can pray besides bathrooms and where impurity is clear otherwise anywhere is considered permissible lolol
