@moranmikey: How Much You Actually Need to Retire Most people try to figure out retirement by guessing how much they should save. That’s backwards. A smarter way is to start with how much you want to spend each month and work backwards using the 4% Rule. If you want $5,000 per month in retirement, that’s $60,000 per year. Divide it by 0.04 and you get $1.5 million invested. That’s your target number. The 4% Rule is a popular guideline used by financial planners because it helps estimate how much you can safely withdraw each year without running out of money. Here are examples: • $3,000/month → $900,000 invested • $5,000/month → $1,500,000 invested • $10,000/month → $3,000,000 invested This method works no matter your age. Figure out the lifestyle you want, then reverse-engineer your retirement number. Want me to calculate your exact amount? Comment your monthly goal and I’ll do the math for you. Not financial advice.
