As a queer black man living in the US, I can really relate! My bae is white. The LGBTQ community is riddle with all kinds of nuanced trauma. I’ve always been open regardless of their skin color, because my pickings of finding a healthy partner are already smaller than heterosexuals. have you ever heard of Nikki Giovanni? I think she modeled what healthy Racial Harmony can look like especially for interracial couples. A lot of these straight interracial couples keep refusing to do any sort of anti-racist work, ancestral inner healing or be politically involved. Specifically there white / nonblack counterparts. The problem sets in when Black people date culturally incompetent non-blacks. So they both default to perpetuating whites supremacy & harm.. it’s rare but me n mines refuse to be lumped in with a bunch of lazy fetishizers. We understand that Love however it's birthed, comes into our world full of nuanced political context. Race matters. And the played Color blindness stuff is fake / harmful. Dating somebody who is emotionally intelligent & on their own antiracist journey is powerful and my non negotiable. And thankfully we’ve cultivated that for the past six years.🧑🏻‍❤️‍💋‍🧑🏾 🥹🫰🏾

I understand. I've only been attracted to one man and I really struggled with it because he was Asian Canadian and I was born and raised in Southern Africa. It took years to realize that I was attracted to his aura. I notice men I find aesthetically pleasing, but I'm rarely attracted in a romantic and physical way.
