If a person wants to marry and is looking for the right way to approach a girl before marriage, the best starting point is sincerity and good intention: approach her only for marriage, not casual conversation. Islam teaches us to be honorable, so it is always better to begin by speaking respectfully through her family, or at least letting someone trusted know your intention. A man should express himself with dignity, saying that he admires her character, modesty, or deen — not her beauty alone — because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said women are married for four things, and the most blessed marriage is the one based on faith and character. He should keep the conversation halal, limited, and focused on marriage goals, values, and compatibility, without unnecessary emotional attachment before nikah. If he fears crossing limits, he should ask her wali to allow a respectful meeting. Allah tells us in the Qur’an, “And cooperate in righteousness and piety” (5:2), meaning marriage must begin with purity, honesty, and respect. When a man approaches a woman with kindness, clarity, and halal intention — and trusts Allah’s timing — Allah opens the doors for what is best for him in this life and the next.
