A man accused of violent crimes escaped from an Arkansas jail on Monday, according to Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office. ASP said 38-year-old Christopher Davenport of Forrest City escaped from the St. Francis County Detention Center in Forrest City Monday night. He was in jail on multiple felony charges in connection with a shooting that happened this fall. Investigators said Davenport, a trustee, walked away from the sally port while he was taking out the trash. Detective Lieutenant Morris McNutt said the escape happened fast, and it was captured on surveillance cameras.

He kind of nervously pranced around the sally port area, then he left the garbage, and he left running," McNutt said. Detective McNutt said it took a phone call to the jail to trigger a headcount. "They came in and done a head count because someone called, inquired about him being out. Did a headcount and confirmed he was gone," McNutt said. Davenport was a trustee at the jail, despite a long list of violent charges.
