Part of the reason I don't like how they portrayed Spock in the Kelvin movies- he mainly shows anger, but every time the original Spock overflows with emotion it's love! He's a lover, not a fighter! He loves his friends so much it kills him!

you know what I find interesting? how Spock is portrayed as stoic, a logical "machine" yet he has managed to capture the imagination of generations of women.

TOS spock is not emotionless. logical yes, rational, straightforward, law-abiding, clinical, yes. however he expresses compassion, joy, righteous anger, confusion, genuine affection, and curiosity repeatedly. he is half vulcanised half human, raised to suppress the human parts but he is half human.

That’s one thing I like about the new series Strange New Worlds, yes he has some moments of anger… but he’s still very much a lover, and respects women so much. We get to see him grappling with both halves of himself and choosing to be someone his mother would be proud of.
