act 1 of the musical CARRIES so hard more than act 2. act 1 has all the songs people know and you really grow with the characters and explores more plot (like the animal subplot that they drop in act 2 LMAO). act 2 is more showy and relies on act 1 doing all the heavy lifting and the hints at dorothy etc. this is a very normal reaction to wicked imo.
