@nbcnews: Luigi Mangione watched police bodycam footage of his arrest in Altoona, #Pennsylvania, at a pretrial hearing this week in connection to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
This dude was literally at my house when that CEO got shot.

Idk how that officer "immediately knew it was him" when deadass I don't even think Luigi looks like the person in the picture that spread through the media. You couldn't even see the person's eyebrows in the photo and it was an angled shot of half a face.

Considering they didn’t read him his Miranda rights till 20 minutes into questioning and didn’t get a warrant to search his stuff (which they searched through it) I’d say he has a 50/50 shot of walking free

No Miranda rights for 20 minutes, no search warrant, and body cam turned off for 11 minutes WHEN THEY SEARCHED.

He knew immediately it was him?! That’s profiling, not evidence.

How could they “recognize” him if the killer never showed his face? And how could the police be so sure he was the CEO’s killer if there was no properly documented prior tip or identification? That kind of thing is supposed to be on paper.

For those standing on the lack of Miranda and the warrantless searches being problems:
1: They only questioned him on his identity, not much else before Miranda. the transcripts are available. Nothing meaningful was discovered.
2: Warrant is not needed to search bags and belongings in control of someone at time of arrest if there is reasonable suspicion there could be evidence or concerns there may be a weapon. Essentially if someone is being arrested for murder, police can and will search every possible thing in your possession that they can get into.
Lawyers will ALWAYS argue the above points in court. There is no reason not to. But literally all they have to do is prove probable cause for the arrest, which suspicion of murder will meet PC.

why is body cam footage being used as evidence when his Miranda rights weren't read? at this point its coersing the jury.
