Let’s work on the foot! Although I believe the foot is the most complex..complex on the body, it is the single easiest structure to work on! Each little articulation, bone, tendon and muscle functions together like an ecosystem. It really is spectacular! What I’ve found in my journey, is that shoes will often “blind” the feet, and cause the foot to either pronate or supinate and the entire calf musculature will swoop in and save the day! Much to the detriment of the knee, hip and lower back. If only we had barefoot shoes that looked AWESOME and could allow our feet to connect with the earth the way they’re designed. Oh wait! We do! They’re called @vivobarefoot and they’re amazing! So now that you’re rocking your @vivobarefoot shoes, and the muscles in your feet are strengthening, you still have pain in your foot, knee, hip etc. This is what you want to do: Seek and out find any muscle that is overactive. This is often referred to as “tight” and strengthen the muscles opposite that hyperactivity. In this instance, if your foot is rolling onto the pinky toe (common with modern gym shoes) the lateral(outside) part of the calf will be under chronic tension - loosen that. Then, head on in to the inside of the knee, and the big muscles along the back of the shin (the gastrocnemius and soleus) and strengthen those.  I’ll drop a few calf raises into my story that you can use to target the weak ones! Do them.  We’re only as strong as our weakest link, and this is  universally true when it comes to our legs.  Lastly, if you’re a gym goer, don’t skip leg day! Those beasts are built to hold you up. Let em!
