I think i would HAVE to take mind reading. simply for the fact if I had control I would use it... and if always have that fear or second guessing if a person's intentions and feelings are true.

They both work to the same end: manipulation. If I had to take one, it would be reading because control is absolutely morally reprehensible. That said, I would prefer this choice never be offered.

No explanation or caveats needed. I'll take mind reading. While both could lead to a slippery slope of awful behavior... Mind manipulation would be so much worse so much faster. I feel like taking someone free will is the worst thing you could do to them. 🤷

Mind control. The mind reading caveat might mean I have to keep taking my glasses off and that'll get suspicious. With mind control I'd join the UN and just start shouting "be nicer!".

Mind reading, the ethical implications of mind control, even for "benevolent" purposes, are horrific. Put simply, mind control, taking away a person's free will, is inherently evil. The invasion of privacy for mind reading is also questionable, but far less so than control.

Purely from a practical perspective, with mind manipulation, you could defend yourself by forcing a criminal to stop what they're doing, dropping whatever weapon they may be using, and go home. Ofc, this power can easily lead someone into their villain arc so.. idk man
