I rinse the hands every time I feel any kind of liquid or powder on my hands cause I don’t wanna cross contaminate cooking wear or the food. I also dry my hands after rinsing cause I don’t want water dripping on the floor or all over the food possibly ruining the taste. I also keep cooking wear elevated or in a specific spot so it saves me from having to clean more messes on the counter or stove especially that sticky tomato sauce or beef grease that stuff is hard to get off once dried.
