Is pronation really bad? There’s a huge misconception in the fitness and rehab field that pronation is something to avoid, so why do some of the world’s best athletes get into such “extreme” amounts of pronation? Pronation is actually a completely natural and essential movement of the foot that occurs during landing. When you walk or run, your foot naturally rolls inward (pronates) to absorb impact and distribute forces efficiently. This helps reduce stress on your joints and even stores elastic energy for propulsion. However, excessive pronation can contribute to discomfort, but it’s usually not the root cause of pain. Instead of blaming pronation, focus more on: ✅ foot strength ✅ movement efficiency ✅ overall mechanics.  These athletes pronate to this extent because they are so good at absorbing force — their bodies have adapted to be extremely efficient.
