It's honestly rare that Wanderer admit openly he feel envious of someone, I think it's something we shouldn't brush off for his character especially with all that fate talk. It might not be something he is actively trying to be as of now but more of some burried desire or wish, something he still feel unworthy to be, just like he felt unworthy/ unfitting of the hero title in Simulanka. Though I don't think think it's about

Though I don't think think it's about "wishing" to be a hero just for the sake of being one, like it's not some savior complex but rather what it implies to be one: perhaps to stand tall against fate so you prevent a calamity indeed. But if we think more about it, for someone that brought lot of troubles in the past to others and might still be afraid he is a bringer of troubles even now. I can imagine that maybe it'd feel nice to be proved wrong, that he is more than a bringer of troubles and so someone that bring peace or rescue to others for a change (especially when he feel guilty to have wronged innocent people) Perhaps it could also be a reference to that in some ways. Also an interesting somewhat contrast is that Durin was able to save people from a calamity indeed (thanks to Albedo too) while Wanderer in the past tried too for Tatarasuna especially but all his efforts and sacrifices went to nothing then he tried through the irminsul to save people from his past again but it lead to nothing either, perhaps it's also partly what make Wanderer unable to see himself as someone that is a successful savior since all his hardworked attempts at being one failed in the past (and it also felt for him like fate was "dressing a wall in front of him" preventing him to realize his wishes like seen in one of his voice line). Then I wonder what we can expect in the future? Him being able to defy fate to save what matters to him and so finally being like "screw fate, this time I didnt let you be in my way and control me"?
