It obviously depends on the stage of the cycle that you’re lumping in the entire amount though

Thank you. I'm still pretty new to investing and feel like I keep missing the key time

It’s about time in the market, not timing the market (which is not possible);

It’s impossible to perfectly time the market over a 20 year period.

This is so true. When I first started with mutual funds, at school they always talked about the importance of DCA and how it was superior to lumping in so that's what I did. It was the worst decision ever. After 8 years of investing 125 per month, I ended up either barely making $ or losing 📉. Funny thing is no one believes me when I tell them, they are all for DCA.

The lumping in presumably happens what, first trading day of every given year? Important to keep in mind that this would be significantly different if the 2k is received day in spring, or fall, or mid year, etc

I smell bs. If u $ cost avg over 1 yr vs lump sum immediately there is likely to be a nominal difference on just $2k initial investment after 20 yrs.
