Deploying the slide by mistake is a very expensive error. The slide costs tens of thousands to replace, the crew gets pulled from duty, and the airline launches a full investigation. This is one of the most serious cabin-crew mistakes.

In the airline I worked for.. if you did this. You would be sent to redo all your training. You would then need a trainer to fly with you and wouldnt sogn you off until they felt you were following the correct procedures.

You do realize that by moving the stairs that allowed the slide to drop and pull the trigger for the inflation and if you just left it where it was and got the mechanics up, they could’ve disarmed the slide close the door repack the slide without it inflating. I’ve only been in the industry 30 years, and this has only happened to me once well to one of my cabin crew, and we saved the situation by understanding how it works.

This is the cabin crew fault. The only way that slide deploys is if the cabin crew opens the doors from the inside. Airport bridge staff have to open the door from the outside every time a plane is to disembark passengers.
