During his Thanksgiving Day stream on SiriusXM Life with John Mayer, John shared briefly the development and possible future release of a plugin featuring all of his guitar amp sounds. This is huge, exciting news, as it opens a world of possibilities in terms of getting dead on captures of his sound available worldwide for pretty much everyone, without the need of any other hardware than a computer and an interface. He showcased some of the sounds, for ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ and ‘Belief’. It is yet to be known when is this going to be available and who’s the developer behind this, but in John’s words, “it’s coming at ya”. I’ll keep you updated as any info comes up. John has already used amp simulations in the past, most recently a Neural DSP Quad Cortex while joining Zedd at Coachella, but has also used Kemper: he has a dressing room rig of a powered Kemper head loaded with captures of his amps into a cabinet. He has also used Fractal devices at different points as well. What do you think of this?
