You must have so much insight! My aunt and uncle in Idaho had the Fox on in the background 24/7 no matter what’s up in the house.

yup! my family isn't trump supporters, but black conservatism needs to be talked about more. getting the same programing as the ops will make you so radical when you leave

This is such an interesting perspective. So how were you taught to see yourself as a Black person? Like how do you fit into society under that idealism?

my Dad is retired military and growing up he was conservative as well. I think I was born leaning to the left😂. we used to debate even when I was a kid. he's probably what you'd consider a moderate now and he can't stand Trump. that was taking it too far for him. the Republicans did an amazing job marketing themselves as the party of Jesus, even though they don't really embody the radical empathy of Jesus.

This is fascinating. And also--I have wondered if this was a thing that sometimes occurred with my fellow black and brown Americans ? I understand I'm yt, and I'm definitely not speaking on your experience at all, however as I have deconstructed my own upbringing which was in very yt Oregon in the 80's and 90's, it was also strict evangelical Christian republican (an existence I didn't love as a child/i was deconstructing as a young one). But as I stepped away and opened books, it was so powerful to see the toxic nature of that world. But for you to have such intimate knowledge on that world has to give you such a rich perspective. I see the programming too and it runs deep. I'm so happy to have escaped but I'm asking my friends to join me. Some are beginning to see the light.. thank you for your rich perspective. I feel lucky to be able to connect with black and brown Americans and hear their voices on here, I was lonely for them growing up in such a yt community, I feel safer with them 😊, I hope to create a situation where they always feel safe with me too 🥹🥰

It’s so heartbreaking seeing black families follow in line with the colonizers religion and politics
