I remember being in my job’s lunch room and a black female co-worker was speaking and said she voted for Bush because of the sanctity of marriage. You could’ve picked my jaw off the floor. As a Latina I just thought Latinos and black Americans voted the same. But then I realized I too was in the same cult, I just didn’t take these beliefs literally. I then started to really deconstruct and leave the cult entirely.
