Not that this is my plan, but what about people who still need to work after taking social security early? Once they earn over a certain amount (which is what like 25k?), the government starts taking some of the social security back. This is crazy to me since we pay into social security our entire working lives!

Or I could add my 100k job and 401k savings for a few more years. It’s not always best. You have other factors to consider.

got laid off my job in 2010 at the age of 55. cashed in my 401k and bought some foreclosures for cash when the shtf. these houses have exponentially increased in value since then. took retirement at 62 and still haven't spent a penny of it in 10 years. it sits in high yield accounts and cds. rolled part of my Ira into a gold ira last year. not sure how that's gonna pan out yet but I tell all my young coworkers (yes, I still work) to invest in an Ira or similar while they are young.

So here's the math based on how long you live(percentage of benefits × number of years receiving benefits = full years):
70- 5.6 full years from 62, 3 full years from 67, 0 full years from 70
75- 9.1 full years from 62, 8 full years from 67, 6.2 full years from 70
80- 12.6 full years from 62, 13 full years from 67, 12.4 full years from 70
85- 16.1 full years from 62, 18 full years from 67, 18.6 full years from 70
90- 19.6 full years from 62, 23 full years from 67, 24.8 full years from 70
