@itsmrskelly: There are so many beautiful things to take notice of. So many ways to wake up and challenge ourselves to see life from a new perspective, maybe one that actually benefits us. This life is worth living. There are so many times, I can’t even begin to tell you, that I wished I wasn’t before you here today. I wanted so badly to not wake up. It felt like this unfathomable weight on my back and chest, like life was crushing me. And I realized I was so far inside my own head, all I wanted was out. Day by day, slowly, I worked to challenge this part of me that seemingly didn’t want to be here anymore. Instead of looking at something with gritted teeth, I tried to understand how it might benefit me, and more importantly, how it might benefit others. And I began to try and serve. How can I offer some part of myself, even the parts I hate, in a world that feels like it doesn’t want anything to do with me? Wait a minute, is life this bad? Am I just reinforcing this narrative in my mind? Sometimes we use self hatred even as a soothing method for the bad things that happen to us… “maybe I deserved it” “maybe I deserved the hurt”. Maybe that makes it easier to accept and digest, easier to live. Until it doesn’t. Hating yourself is never the right way, even when it feels like a comfort. There are many hungers in this world that are better to starve than to feed. And here I am, still here, and so grateful to be. If you’ve ever looked at my skeletons, read the message and thought “what does he know?” Well, not a whole lot. But I know I’m needed in this life. And so are you.
