Replying to @nick Seed oils invading our food have caused the average Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio to rise to over 20:1. It should be 2:1 or 1:1. - Seed oils aren’t inherently bad. They’re just in everything…and they’re high in Omega 6’s & linoleic acid. - They trigger hunger cravings, increase lipogenesis (creation of fat), contribute to inflammation, increase insulin resistance, increase leptin resistance (the hormone that tells us when we’re full), and contribute to obesity. - Omega 6:3 ratio’s of common seed oils: - Safflower: 133:1 omega 6: omega 3, 71% linoleic acid. - Sunflower: 40:1 omega 6: omega 3, 66% linoleic acid. - Corn: 83:1 omega 6: omega 3, 60% linoleic acid. - Palm kernal: essentially infinite omega 6: omega 3 (virtually no omega 3’s), 2% linoleic acid. - Canola oil: 2:1 omega 6: omega 3, 21% linoleic acid. - Remember, life is about balance…and I never judge. - Details in my profile for coaching OR go to coachgabbi.com and fill out the form. - Gabbi 💕 - LSN, CPT - Referenced studies: - Simopoulos AP. An Increase in the Omega-6/Omega-3 Fatty Acid Ratio Increases the Risk for Obesity. Nutrients. 2016 Mar 2;8(3):128. doi: 10.3390/nu8030128.
