1st Ever Marathon 🗺️📍Portofino • My Why : Running a marathon was in my bucket list 📜[ however, wasn’t planning to make it happen till I reached my 30’s ] . I had never ran more than 10k 🏃🏽. @Gymshark ‘s #Gymshark66 challenge sounded too good as an opportunity to make it happen [ even if a decade earlier than planned ] • Why Portofino? : if I was going to make it, I wanted it to be a real challenge 🪖, I didn’t want tons of time to prepare myself and train 💆‍♂️. I wanted to embrace pain, take some notes from the experience and grow out of it - as well as “callus my mind” [ Goggins ]. The closest marathon in space and time was the Portofino Marathon [ I’m Spanish based in Madrid ] >>> Just a few of a million reflections and learnings I take out of this wonderful experience… 1) it’s mind blowing how one changes perspective when surrounded by people who have also made the choice to ‘suffer’ 💪🏽 and are making huge amounts of effort - as you are. Suddenly, you love people even more, 💞 you see more common things between you and them and you just want to adopt the best of the attitudes, for you, and for them. 2) how important it is to keep one’s smile even if in pure pain 3) internal debate between body 🕺🏻[ yelling for you to stop because hips are in pain, hams are in pain, calves are in pain, lower back is in pain… ] and mind 🧠 [ telling you to NEVER QUIT, to NEVER STOP until it is done ] makes you realise there’s also a SOUL ❤️‍🔥 [ the one who decides who to listen to and makes the final decision ] playing that 3-players game. 4) internal strength is what actually makes you ‘do the thing’ but if you get as lucky as I did and life surrounds you with so many nice, funny 🤣, friendly, motivated and strong people…there are higher chances marathon finish line is going to be crossed. 🤭 5) You feel like you’re “in a trance” 🫨 during the last 3k, but once that finish line gets crossed, the feeling of pride [ with you for you ] lasts forever ✨🤤 Shoutout to @Runners.it who were at the mic cheering me up when crossing the finish line and filming some bits along the way Now it’s time for me to keep smashing my gym workouts [ my place to be ], keep running long distances [ for future marathons - this has just started ] and keep giving EVERYTHING I’ve got to earn a place at the @Gymshark Women ‘s family. Btw, now it’s not just lifting what I will do until I’m 100 years old, but it’s also running marathons 🤪#letsmakeita100yearsoldthing I hope you can take something out of this post 🫶🏼 I hope you go pursue not only dreams but also challenges. I hope you give your ALL for what you want in life. I hope you are able to smile during tough times because there is ALWAYS light 🤩. I hope you embark yourself on adventures…🧳🛶 I hope you play the game of life. And I hope you LOVE FULLY those who are there for you if you make it and if you don’t, those who cheer you up, those who help you, those who act as if your dreams/problems/adventures are also theirs, because, at the end of the day, you realise it’s love what matters the most 👫👭👬👨🏻‍🦯‍➡️👨‍🦼‍➡️

If you’ve been in pain for a long time, there’s a surprising reason why it never seems to let go: your brain can actually become addicted to pain. Every time you focus on your pain, worry about it, or even compare life now to how it used to be, your brain releases stress chemicals like cortisol and adrenaline. Over time, the brain can start craving these chemicals — just like it craves sugar, caffeine, or nicotine. As a result, your pain keeps spiking with stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, or even for no obvious reason at all. This is why you might notice pain showing up even when you’re relaxed or at rest. Your brain is manufacturing it, chasing that chemical “hit.” The longer this cycle runs, the better your brain gets at reinforcing it, making the pain feel constant and harder to break free from. But here’s the good news: you can interrupt this cycle with the right tools. 👉 When pain spikes, try light movement above and below the painful area 👉 Combine this with box breathing (4 seconds in, hold 4, 4 seconds out, hold 4) 👉 Add relaxing music if you can to further calm your nervous system By doing this, you’re teaching your brain a new pattern. This helps your brain link movement, breathing, and relaxation to safety instead of danger. Over time, this helps reduce the “chemical addiction” to pain and creates a healthier, calmer response in your body. Consistency is key, but even small resets can start breaking the cycle. Give this a try, and comment any thoughts or questions you have below! #chronicpain #painrelief #nervoussystem #mindbodyconnection #HealingJourney
