This is due to their kidneys not developing, unfortunately I am going through this. My baby has cysts in the kidneys, which prevents from making the amniotic fluid.

You can drink a lot of water and the amniotic fluid still won’t go up. I know bc I went through it with my son. I had him at 39 weeks. I had to go to ultrasound appointments every week to keep An eye

I doubt if not drinking water really causes it , I never took water my whole first trimester I would struggle becoz of vomiting, but baby is ok
