He's not wrong on a lot of things. He even admitted that to get a deposit is huge money. The thing to remember is mortgage rates were way higher back then, so repayments were huge compared to the wages. Also people spend their money on what they value. Sometimes that's high end brands that cost a lot. Live below your means.
