I know this video is old, but I always struggle with the end of my books. I don't have any advice, just letting you know you're not alone. 🥰

This happensto me. I want the ending to be perfect, so then it's harder to get out. Letting go and knowing I can always change it in editing helps!

I feel like it’s like saying goodbye to all the characters you have spent so much time with. But always remember, they want their stories told so can live on forever.

I have done this with every book I've written. My theory is separation anxiety. Ending the story you've been invested in. I always have to push through and force myself to the finish line.

just write and see what comes out. maybe write the very last few paragraphs? or come back to it in a day or so...

Congrats on almost being finished with your book! When I feel stuck in my writing, stepping away from that particular project for a few days helps me. I read other books or start outlining a new one.

coming to an end of a story is hard. For me I'm worried I missed something or I should've added more or I should just delete the whole thing 🙈...

I find stepping away from writing on a screen and moving to pen and paper really helps things flow. It could be worth a try 🤗

Using a tension map like Loomanka would help you clarify the outstanding narrative tension left to resolve ✨

I struggle with the ending too, but someone said “you can’t edit what’s not there”, so I usually just word vomit until I’m done 😂

I also think that writing the climax of the story is one of the more difficult things to do narratively. But maybe that’s just me?

It's so weird I am always writing the beginning and ending to my books and can't seem to fill the middle

I am stuck on my last few chapters too! I think knowing how much I want them to mean, and what it takes to pull my ideas off.. I’m just feeling scared to get it wrong.. and a little lazy 😅

i always find the last few chapters are the hardest. I think it's the idea of finishing the story and part of me not wanting to walk away just yet. I don't have a workaround but don't force it.

Depends on how you’re stuck. If you’re not sure how to finish your book, double check your theme and the lessons you want your character to learn to help you make them learn it in the last chapters

The best advice I can give is to keep going. Fix it in edits. Get the words down first. For the future, plot the beginning, middle, and end of book l, then connect the dots.
