Losing four close friends to cardiac arrest before the age of 45 created a watershed moment for David Sullivan. The dad of four from Oxted, England, became committed to improving cardiac survival rates worldwide. To champion his mountainous mission, the 62-year-old traveled to the Himalayas to install what he claims is the world's highest defibrillator. At 22,000 feet he tested the life-saving device before installing it at a village near Everest Base Camp at 16,500 feet. Just three weeks later, the defibrillator became a lifesaver, when it was used to revive a young female climber whose heart had stopped.
