@geminialienprincess: I was just talking to two different friends about this the other day. People pleasing is a trauma response, and often times ends up attracting the exact type of people we are trying to protect ourselves from. NO HEALTHY PERSON IS ATTRACTED TO PEOPLE PLEASING. Healthy people want you to feel safe, want you to do things because you WANT to do them, want you to put yourself first, have healthy boundries, and protect your energy when you need to. The only types of people who want you to people please and put them first, are people you do not want in your life. I know its easier said than done, but STOP PEOPLE PLEASING. Ask yourself "do I really want to do this or do I not want to upset this person?" Practice asking yourself the hard questions, answering honestly, and setting healthy boundries. It will take practice for sure. Our nervous system was wired to be hypervigilant of other peoples wants / needs in fear of losing them or being treated poorly. But unfortunately, this often only leads to more mistreatment, getting taken advantage of, or even worse. Practice self love, practice saying no when you don't want to say yes. Practice not making yourself small and digestable. It is not your responsibility to tailor yourself and your responses to try and prevent emotional outbursts from people.
