it's like they forgot that Sally's, target, Ulta, Amazon ALREADY sell gel polish kits. I can see them getting upset about us that do gelx (cuz let's be real, our services would net them $100+) but the girls getting polish services? really?

Right. You can ALSO get contact dermatitis from professionals. If you have time and money to build a relationship with a nail tech you trust and like their work, that’s the gold standard. But I was just stopping into random shops before I started doing my own 10 years ago or so. I’m not saying it’s less risky to do DIY than risk your health and luck with a random shop. BUT. It’s also an assumed risk. There is no such thing as 💯% safe or damage free nail enhancements. At this point I’ve been doing DIY so long I feel more comfortable doing it myself. However, I wasn’t ALWAYS this skilled, careful or safe. So I can’t exactly endorse starting DIY yourself. But if you’re going to do it, like I am going to keep doing it, you can be *more* careful and weigh your risks and reward.

Getting made fun of is so real! As a nail biter & skin picker as well my life changed when I found a nail tech who also bites her nails/cuticles. Shes so sweet to me and makes me feel much better getting my nails done than any other time in the past!

it's just a gel polish kit. they are freaking out for no real reason other than the kit is $59.99 at Ulta. they're just losing out on their funny bunny and bubble bath girlies that are getting charged that. PER SERVICE. just to get their nails painted.
