There are plenty of places in the world that are far more advanced than the US that still offer more freedom and stability. The system is performing exactly as it was designed and the truth is you can opt out anytime you want. Most people just won’t. The system can't function without your participation. But people are so attached to their comfort that they're not willing to starve it out. There's a saying "People will choose a familiar hell over an unfamiliar heaven." and until there’s a collective bdeprogramming, people will stay in that loop repeating the same cycles and expecting something outside of them to change.
