Is this going around again? How fun 😳. I wonder what would happen if I told booktok that back in the day (early 2000s) when I was reading romance, I read over 400… would their heads explode? 😂 I only read about 200-250 now because fantasy books and also some romance books are way longer now.

I was bullied by librarians who didn't think I could read all the books I was checking out and my 8th grade teacher who accused me of faking my reading log. It never ends. I love the "but I have a life and a job and kids." So do I, thanks 🙄

I told people I did 135 one year and they were astonished. In 8th grade my ELA teacher called me a liar for reading 15 books in a 2 1/2 week span for book reports and my mom had to defend me

This is one of the reasons I recently stopped using apps like goodreads and storygraph. I’m so sick of people making me feel some type of way for how much I read & comparing myself to others that read so much more. I just want to enjoy books. It doesn’t have to be a competition. I’ve read 42 books this year, that’s 42 more than most people read. I don’t need to win some imaginary contest.

I love when people are like, “Where do you find the time?!” but then they talk about how they watch all the Bachelor shows, Love Island, etc. I am probably reading while they’re watching. And that’s ok! I’m not better than them. But it’s not hard to understand where I find the time.

The only problem I have with people reading so many books is when they belittle other people who don’t! Reading is essential and no one should feel bad for the amount they do or don’t read! It’s for everyone
