Aesthetically I can see what you mean, but we’re forgetting that Vaporwave was a music genre originally rather than specifically a visual aesthetic, and while I’ve heard music people now place under the fruitger aero aesthetic, fruitger doesnt have the same music genre component to it at its core

I think it’s slightly different, vapor wave is a romantization of like 90s aesthetics, but didn’t actually exist until the 2010s. Frutiger aero actually did exist in the 2000s (I was there, I can attest to this) and it’s now resurging in 2025.

Vaporwave was more a genre of music than aesthetic compared to frutiger. But I can see what you mean bc vaporwave albums can look pretty nostalgic

a lot of the 'frutiger aero' is just the concept of the future we were promised but the birthplace of real frutiger aero is old computers and old computer designs and it doesn't have anything to do with fish, more of just a peaceful way to coexist with nature in a tech filled world I think
