American Eagle creates ads for whatever is trendy at the moment they don’t have a brand identity. I remember their size inclusivity campaign from like 8 years ago and now that it’s not trendy anymore they don’t offer larger sizing in their stores

Also, I believe AE knew exactly what they were doing with this campaign. They know SS is MAGA leaning and that the concept of this campaign would ruffle feathers.. therefore getting people to talk. To post. To be enraged. Division is garnering sales because it puts their name under lights, albeit good or bad. I think it goes back to “all press is good press”.
