A pediatrician who mocks me “did you google that” is getting a bad review. A pediatrician who offers 5 vaccines while my child has a visible cold is getting a bad review.

We get blasted for not making a patient happy regardless of how much the request goes against current practice guidelines. If we capitulate then We are not providing safe care.

It’s sad that customer service is becoming more important that qualify of care anyways.

As a healthcare worker, I agree. With new technology, laws change. Patients also need held accountable.

I’ve had some BAD medical professionals. Medical mistake after medical mistake. Once in the OR and I had to get an attorney. Doc said “oops!” In one of my reviews, I left my phone number so if anyone wants full details I welcome the phone calls. The level of care given has gone down drastically over the last several years. Patients are just starting to stand up for themselves and I think (IMO) medical professionals don’t like the pushback.

Yes please I’m so sick of people saying this is what the hospital/ Doctor said but we all know they’re lying. They just hide behind HIPPA.

Revoke only as much privacy as was alluded to in the original review. Health and medical professionals can’t medically dox people for having a bad experience, but liars can be more accountable

That is a slippery slope. Most doctors are good but there are plenty that are not. They deserve negative reviews. What if a valid negative review results in a doctor telling all the patient's health history?

But what you are not considering is there is an unbalance of power in YOUR favor to begin with. Patients need to protect themselves and others from harmful doctors, especially the most vulnerable patients.

No way. What if the complaint is legitimate and the doctor discloses their previously protected information as leverage or revenge? Trust me, I get what you’re saying and why you’re saying it. But I also understand why there are protections.

We had a patient leave a review saying our Doctor knows nothing and is a fraud doctor….she literally declined all testing and basically wanted our doctor to wave his hands over her to know what’s wrong. And the clinic just has to accept that??

I partially feel like Google is responsible and should not allowed reviews on medical physicians. It can be done internally and through our own review services and if it’s serious you can see it through board complaints.

I might get that, but there’s no place for patients to go. To find out about doctors, to tell people perhaps their temperament might be off, etc. Doctors are privileged and that many of the privacy laws are there to protect them not so much of the patient.

I think it’s pretty wild that patients can literally make any accusation they want not licensing boards with ZERO repercussion when it’s false, frivolous, dismissed by the board.

Why do doctors get to comment about patients in their chart and patients don’t get to respond? Public or private there are two sides to every story.

I agree to a degree. Depends on the content of the negative review. People should allow to hold drs accountable- fairly of course- without fear. But there’s a line

as doctors, we owe the patient confidentiality- they do not owe it to us. I've had occasional bad reviews online, but they are in a distinct minority. people are smart enough to "see which way the wind blows".

I'm conflicted about this because although it wasn't HIPAA, a former client of mine bad mouthed me to somebody who happened to be a close friend. I think clients are allowed to provide feedback as to their experience in the marketplace. I think businesses, providers should be allowed to respond to specific allegations.

The physicians who give their patients what they want regardless of whether it is the right thing or in their best interests always have stellar reviews.

I couldn’t agree more. The lack of accountability for patients who can hurt a small business is not ok. Speaking truth is important but the one sidedness is a huge issue as some of these patients haven’t been even seen in my practice. 👏👏👏

They should do it like rideshare companies, the rider gives a review and the driver gives a review and they cancel each other out, so they’re just not matched up in the future.

I agree buttt I also think HCW shouldn’t make fun expecially of pain pts online at our expense our suffering isn’t funny but I think we all need to have a open convo about that also I think instead of leaving a bad review people should sit down face to face and talk about what is bothering them to come up with a solution instead of just complaining🧡
