Yes…. and no. This is how the world defines marriage. God calls it a covenant, not a contract. In a contract, I will continue to fulfill the terms I agreed on as long as you continue to fulfill yours. In a convenant, we each fulfill our terms regardless what the other does. The purpose of vows is to verbally declare that we will do so in spite of our feelings, since feelings come and go moment to moment, day to day. This is why the definition of real love is an action — a choice — not a feeling.
