Silencing women who speak up? That’s defending patriarchy. And let’s be real: The DR is a soft-theocracy. From the Bible on the flag to religion in schools, it’s not a secret. There’s also documented discrimination against Haitians—checkpoints, ID demands—that white tourists don’t face. Does the U.S. have issues? Obviously. But feminism means holding -all- patriarchy accountable and if this reality triggers you than it requires self examination about why you value upholding patriarchy.
