@ranafromqueens: Three things I wanted to flag about the ICE raid that happened in Chinatown this week: 1) It targeted street vendors: people just trying to make a living. 2) It targeted West African Black migrants, who face both anti-immigrant and anti-Black violence. 3) It happened in an ethnic enclave, spaces that should be safe. Over the past few years, I’ve met and worked alongside so many African immigrants arriving in New York from the young men who slept on mosque floors when they first arrived, to mothers I met in shelters who were fleeing unimaginable violence, to organizers building safety networks from nothing. Seeing this happen in our city, to our neighbors is devastating. Our liberation is collective.
