@tivframework: Data from SPIVA scorecards in 2024 shows that roughly 90% of large cap US funds underperformed the S&P 500 over the last twenty years. Lots of other similar stats out there.. As always this is not investing advice, just my opinion. #Tech #investing #data
I was with SJP for 7 years, they grew my pension by 2.8% per annum, after charging me 2.5% per annum in fees. I started doing it myself(Iam in drawdown) 8 months ago Iam up 30%.Wish I had done it myself 7 years ago.

I invest using a target volatility model. At the start of every month, I calculate the realised volatility of the prior month and the implied volatility of the month just entered. I then use these to calculate an optimal leverage ratio for the upcoming month. This results in my target volatility being met in the long term, which keeps risk stable whilst increasing the returns due to leverage. Approx. Stats (SP500 Baseline): 4-5% Annualised Alpha, +0.5 Sortino Ratio, +0.25 Sharpe Ratio, 10% Reduction in max. drawdown, 8% Active Return, 1.2:1 Upside to downside Capture Ratio. (Yes, this has been rigorously tested for significance on historical and simulated data.)

Hi there! I work in fintech, building AI tools for an international banking software firm. I really like how you talk about the industry, would love a chat to learn more about your background and what you’re working on right now?

So for people that are only comfortable to invest in ETFs you reckon S&P500 is the only one worth putting money into long term?

Net IRR, of course, the fund managers did well for themselves. It’s also worth noting that fund of funds structures are usually terrible for investors since the gross fee drag compounds across layers, by design. Naturally, it all depends on the manager, just look at Medallion.

Surely all a fund manager had to do to win the bet was invest in the SP500 in the 2nd year.

Alpesh patel has some great and interesting videos on why they can’t beat the market , it’s not because it’s such a hard thing to do or a brain power problem . self imposed rules on the fund , such as not being able to invest in certain markets , being too big requiring the holding of hundreds of stocks creating lack of concentration , not allowed to go to cash in downturns ect .

Okay, but what’s the view on the AI bubble risk? A proportional tilt away from those stocks might be sensible at this time.

most people's private pensions are doing the same as interest rates in banks, yet they don't know and do nothing about it. Fund managers collect AUM and fees for doing absolutely nothing
