icelandair doesnt overbook, they only end up overbooked when they need to swap planes.

Im pretty sure you were flying the day after the storm, so the day before no flights could go in or out to the us, so all of the flights the day before were cancelled and that is not something the airline can control and it takes a few days to correct itself

I used to work in the ops in kef. Icelandair don’t overbook, they may have had a technical isssue on another plane. But Business class is not to bad ey’

I don’t know what exactly happened but I know a lot of flights were canceled the day before due to the big snowfall and because of that I would imagine they had to make up for it that day.

You might have said the reason in your tiktok. The day before all flights to and from Iceland were cancelled so they probably had to get people from the day before on the flight

I had a flight with an Italian airline named Neos. It was overbooked but was in luck. Me and my wife were transfered over to guess who? Yeah, Icelandair. Loved it. 😚

It’s not just Iceland air, getting in and out of Iceland is very much a hit and miss saga. They consistently cancel or reschedule flights. I got delayed over 30 hours trying to get out. Definitely worth it though

This happened to me 10 days ago!! Except we were denied boarding and then had to call Iceland Air who accused us of not showing up for our flight. We didn’t get to Iceland until 24 hours later and had to fight tooth and nail to get a hotel for the night, and we had to go via Amsterdam. The lady on the phone blatantly claimed “we don’t overbook flights”!! Working hard to get my €400 promised by the EU regulations.

This happened to me two years ago in Italy - had just landed in Milan and needed to get a domestic flight to Sicily and we were put on standby because it was overbooked. I cried at the counter about having just landed from Australia and they felt bad and put us at the top of the list, so we got on - but I couldn’t believe that happens!!!

At least you got there on time, I got cancelled from the storm and had to book a 600euro flight for the next day to get there in time for a tour because they rebooked me for 2 days later! Hella stressful but at least Iceland is beautiful
